Kartra vs ClickFunnels can be quite a tricky choice as they’re both great platforms. They are competitors in the marketing and business software industry. While both platforms have tools that are similar, each also has features that are unique to the platform.
ClickFunnels has been around for a while and is the current marketplace leader with over 120,000 users.
Kartra has only been on the marketing software scene for a few years, but it has quickly grown to become a fierce competitor to ClickFunnels.
Each platform has a 14-day trial. While you can take a ClickFunnels’ trial for free, Kartra’s trial comes at a cost of $1. However, there’s also a secret way to extend your Kartra trial to 30 days, as I will show you later on in this article.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Overview
To firstly help familiarize you with both products, below are the basic stats of Kartra and ClickFunnels.
Throughout the rest of this article, I’m going to walk you through the features, pricing, and everything else you need to know about both platforms.
|Founded in||2013 (Genesis Digital, Kartra didn’t launch until 2018.)||2014|
|Pricing||Starting at $99 per month||Starting at $97 per month|
|Trial?||Yes, 14 days||Yes, 14 days|
|Money-back guarantee||30 days||30 days|
Kartra is a relatively new marketing software product, as it only launched in 2018. However, the company behind Kartra is GenesisDigital, has been around for a lot longer and was founded in 2013.
In case you haven’t heard of them, GenesisDigital has some solid history in the industry, as they are also behind a few other highly successful software products like WebinarJam and Everwebinar.
Since Kartra launched, it’s become hugely popular among internet marketers, business owners and entrepreneurs. The reason for this is its incredible list of easy to use features that are focused on helping its users generate more sales and leads.
You can sue Kartra to build landing pages and funnels, collect emails and build your list, sell products with Kartra Checkout, set up membership sites, host your videos, recruit and manage affiliates, run a support desk, and basically run pretty much every part of your online business.
Here’s a list of Kartra’s core features:
- Kartra Checkouts
- Kartra Leads
- Build Sales Funnels
- Kartra Pages
- Kartra Mail and Forms
- Kartra Funnels and Campaigns
- Kartra Memberships
- Kartra Videos
- Kartra Helpdesks
- Kartra Calendars
- Kartra Affiliates
- Kartra Integrations
- Kartra Agency
Who Is Kartra Best For?
Kartra is best for users that want to build comprehensive marketing campaigns using just one all-in-one platform.
Every feature inside of Kartra acts as if you’d have purchased a dedicated software for it, which is why it’s so effective. If you need to use multiple pieces of software in your business, then not only will Kartra save you money on multiple third party subscriptions, it will also save you the headache of integrating them all together.
ClickFunnels probably doesn’t need an introduction since it’s been around for so long. But, let’s introduce it anyway, just to be sure.
Russell Brunson founded the company in 2014. Since then, it has become the most popular funnel builder software on the market. Additionally, it’s also one of the world’s fastest-growing, non-VC-backed companies, which is very impressive.
The reason ClickFunnels has grown so fast is because of its ease of use and also the features tf offers. Although it doesn’t have as many features as Kartra, ClickFunnels is known to give users some of the best marketing tools in a straightforward and easy-to-understand software.
Here is a list of ClickFunnels features:
- Page Builder and Templates
- Webinar Funnels
- Affiliate management
- Follow-up Funnels and Newsletters
- Membership site builder
- Checkouts with one-click order bumps, upsells and downsells
- Share funnels
Who Is ClickFunnels Best For?
ClickFunnels is best for info product vendors and ecommerce stores where a funnel can help increase conversions. That is quite a broad target market, but ClickFunnels has over 120,000 customers, so they appeal to a wide range of businesses.
You’re probably thinking right now that both platforms sound great. While that’s true, each platform does have its own pros and cons, which I’ll get into here in a few minutes.
Kartra Features and Benefits
Let’s jump into how Kartra is different from ClickFunnels. Afterward, we’ll do the same vice versa.
What Kartra Has That ClickFunnels Doesn’t Have
Kartra has quite a lot of features that ClickFunnels doesn’t have. While one or two of them will be a game-changer for some business owners, a few of them are not that significant, but I’ve still explained them below too just so you know exactly what you’re getting if you decide to buy Kartra.
One of the most significant features that ClickFunnels is missing is video hosting. If you need to use video in your business, for example on your sales pages or as part of a private membership site, then this can be a game-changer for you, as I’ll explain.
When using ClickFunnels, you will need to also sign up for a third party video host like Wistia or Vimeo to host videos for your pages and membership sites. You can then embed those videos into your ClickFunnels pages.
One of these third party video hosting platforms can easily cost you an additional $99+ per month, depending on the amount of bandwidth you use.
Kartra’s video hosting tool, on the other hand, comes included with your Kartra monthly subscription, which is pretty sweet. It is included in all of the Kartra pricing plans (see below).
Kartra’s video hosting is also quite advanced as it lets you add CTAs, and headlines to your videos to help you improve your conversions.
I also particularly like that you could tag contacts based on their behavior and interactions with your videos, for example, how much of a sales video they have watched. You can then set up automated email sequences with Kartra Mail based on the amount of content they have or have not watched.
That’s a pretty powerful feature!
As you probably know, both ClickFunnels and Kartra let you share funnels with other users. However, Kartra goes one step further and enables you to share all your other assets like your email marketing campaigns, helpdesks, videos, etc. too, which is pretty useful.
Kartra also has pre-built campaigns instead of funnel templates. Some of which are built by marketing legends like Frank Kern and come with pre-built copy written too.
Better Affiliate Management
Affiliate management is one area where Kartra really shines. ClickFunnels has an affiliate marketing feature too, but from all the talk in the online marketing community, it’s not as robust as Kartra’s.
Kartra lets you create many types of affiliate programs that ClickFunnels doesn’t. For example, you can set up your programs to be pay per sale or pay per lead.
You can also set payment milestones, create multiple access levels, run competitions, and offer bonus incentives.
In my opinion, the tracking and analytics are also superior too.
Better Email Marketing
When it comes to email marketing, both ClickFunnels and Kartra have some great tools built-in.
However, Kartra again has more tools to help you build more effective campaigns. The automation sequences have more triggers, and you can split-test your emails, while with ClickFunnels, you can’t.
Kartra also has a better lead scoring system that will give you more information on how engaged a lead is, their value, etc.
Unfortunately, ClickFunnels’ autoresponder (known as Follow-up Funnels) is only available on their higher-priced Platinum plan. However, with Kartra you can use all features including Kartra Mail on any plan.
Throughout Kartra’s features, it has very comprehensive analytics. Whether it’s for email marketing, membership sites, or affiliate management, Kartra gives you a ton of valuable insights that you can use to create better campaigns.
For example, in your membership site analytics, you can see metrics related to your student’s retention. Or, you can also see the ROI of an automation sequence in the email marketing section.
ClickFunnels has some decent analytics too, but they’re not quite as visual and advanced as Kartra’s.
Another feature that you won’t find inside of ClickFunnels is the behavior-adaptive-marketing feature.
From the moment a visitor first reaches your website or funnel, Kartra will start tracking what they’re interested in.
This feature can then use that information to adapt your pages to their behavior automatically.
As you can imagine, this can help to significantly increase your conversions, especially if you have lots of visitors and you’re targeting quite a broad audience, as it helps you match the message to the visitor’s needs.
Kartra also lets you connect helpdesks to your pages and membership sites, while ClickFunnels doesn’t.
This isn’t a deal-breaker, in my opinion, because you’re just providing email/ticketing support, so it’s not too different from leaving an email link in there. But it’s still a little better and a feature that ClickFunnels doesn’t have.
Finally, Kartra also has a built-in calendar tool. This is Kartra’s version of Calendly, so it lets you schedule appointments with your customers.
Again, if you want to go for ClickFunnels, this isn’t the end of the world; Calendly costs like $8 to $12 per month, so it’s not gonna cost you the earth to pay for that separately. The advantage of using Kartras, on the other hand, is that you can access everything, including your calendar, all from one, single dashboard, which is pretty nice.
- A powerful set of features to help you generate more sales and leads
- Outstanding affiliate management tools
- Email marketing feature is very comprehensive to help you engage your audience
- Built-in video hosting means you won’t need to spend money on an external software
- Great analytics for all features
- Page builder can lag occasionally
- The software can be overwhelming, and there are a lot of setup steps
What Kartra Is Particularly Good At
Kartra is particularly good at giving you a set of features that combine incredibly well and help you build a powerful marketing system for your business. This is also where it slightly outperforms ClickFunnels, as it goes the extra mile with affiliate management and email marketing tools.
It’s also great at connecting all the features to help you manage your campaigns more effectively. For example, you can use your contact being an affiliate or watching a certain period of a video as a trigger for your email automation sequences.
Kartra Ease of Use
In general, Kartra is relatively easy to use. All the features are drag and drop, so it’s fairly easy to build your campaigns. However, while I was using Kartra, I found that the campaigns’ setup just has so many steps, which harms the usability.
I think that they could have combined a lot of them, or just create another work around for it. Sometimes it can make it a lot harder to keep an overview of what you need to do to get your campaign up and running.
Kartra’s page builder can also occasionally lag, which is slightly annoying.
Apart from these two things, Kartra is fairly easy to use, and I didn’t run into any issues.
Kartra Deliverability Rates
Kartra has strict measures in place to ensure that its customers’ emails are delivered. For example, if you import a list of leads, Kartra’s team will first verify that they are yours and active.
Or, when Kartra first launched, users could send a lot fewer emails so that they could ensure the emails were being delivered. Luckily, you can now send unlimited emails on most of Kartra’s plans, but we’ll look at that later on in the pricing section.
You can also set up private IPs, which can also help your deliverability.
I did browse the internet to find more information on Kartra’s deliverability, but unfortunately, there wasn’t any information.
But there is also nobody complaining about it, which is a good sign.
Who Is Kartra Good For
Kartra is excellent for the following businesses:
- Info product sellers
- Service-based businesses
- eCommerce Stores
- Affiliate marketers
The reason I say the platform is good for affiliate marketers is that it is entirely affiliate-friendly.
You can add affiliate links to your emails without the need to worry about Kartra not liking it. Additionally, many of the tools are suited well for affiliates unless they want to use a blog, in which case, they’d be better off using GrooveFunnels.
If you still need more detailed info on this platform, then you can check out my in-depth Kartra review here.
ClickFunnels Features and Benefits
Now that we have taken a complete look at Kartra, it’s time to do the same for ClickFunnels.
What ClickFunnels Has That Kartra Doesn’t Have
While ClickFunnels doesn’t have as many features as Kartra has, it does have a couple of thighs that Kartra is missing, so you will soon see. If these things are important to you then you may want to choose ClickFunnels over Kartra.
One of those things missing from Kartra that ClickFunnels has is the webinar funnels feature. I think the reason why Kartra doesn’t offer this as part of their core offering is because the company behind Kartra, Genesis Digital, have already created two separate webinar products, WebinarJam and EverWebinar.
When it comes to ClickFunnels and webinars, however, keep in mind these are just live webinars, and you still will need an integration to host pre-recorded webinars on ClickFunnels.
However, this is still quite a significant feature that Kartra doesn’t have, as it’s a great way to sell your product.
When using this feature on ClickFunnels, one of the easiest webinar platforms to integrate it with is Zoom.
If you want to see a walkthrough of how to set up a ClickFunnels webinar, check out the video below.
Slightly Better Page Builder
ClickFunnels’ page builder is a little easier to use and also has more options. It’s nicely colour-coded and fairly intuitive to use, although there will be a small learning curve to get used to it in the beginning.
There are one or two features of the page builder that are a little quirky, but there are loads of tutorial videos on Youtube for ClickFunnels, and their support is only an email away if you need them.
More Funnel Templates
While Kartra does come with some nice templates ready for you to use straight out of the gate, ClickFunnels has a lot more. So, while Kartra has more campaign templates, ClickFunnels has more for actual funnels.
Here’s a list of the categories of funnels that ClickFunnels comes with. Inside each of these categories is a whole host of done for you templates ready for you to use.
- Webinar funnel
- Auto webinar funnel
- Cancellation funnel
- Invisible funnel
- Daily deal funnel
- 2-step tripwire funnel
- Sales letter funnel
- Storefront funnel
- Live demo funnel
- Video sales letter funnel
- Product launch funnel
- Membership funnel
A Bigger Community
One significant benefit of ClickFunnels is that it has a much bigger community. ClickFunnels’ official Facebook group has a whopping 260,000+ members, while Kartra’s only has 22,000.
Don’t get me wrong, Kartra’s group is also impressive, but it doesn’t quite compare to ClickFunnels’.
Therefore, ClickFunnels offers a few more opportunities for networking or if you simply need some help with anything funnel-related.
More Educational Material
ClickFunnels has a lot more educational material to help you succeed. For example, they have the funnel Hack-A-Thons, that you will have access to on the Platinum plan.
There is also Funnelflix, which is a massive library of educational material on funnels, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship. It’s kinda like the Netflix of online marketing. While you do get access to some great courses on the Standard plan, you will need to upgrade to ClickFunnels Platinum to get access to courses like the One Funnel Away Challenge, and other training.
FunnelFlix is a big plus point for ClickFunnels because it can help you grow your business and increase revenue much more quickly. FunnelFlix contains tons of premium courses, several of which sell for thousands of dollars by themselves.
Kartra has some training like the Kartranaut program, but it doesn’t quite compare to what you get with ClickFunnels.
No Limits on Leads You Generate
This point is actually about something that Kartra has, but ClickFunnels doesn’t: Limits on the number of leads you collect.
Of course, this is a pro for ClickFunnels, as you won’t be forced to upgrade based on leads. We’ll talk more about this later on in the pricing section.
- More established
- Slightly better page builder
- More funnel templates
- Lets you host webinars
- Bigger community
- More educational material than Kartra
- Easier to use than Kartra
- Only three pricing plans
- Not as many core features as Kartra
- Affiliate tracking is not great
What ClickFunnels Is Particularly Good At
ClickFunnels’ main offering is funnels, and that’s where they pour most of their resources into, so it makes sense they’re pretty awesome at it.
ClickFunnels comes with a huge range of funnel features and a lot of educational material to support it. Not only this, but it also breaks down the topic in general so that even a beginner can use the software.
It’s also great at building a community for its users of like-minded marketers and business owners.
ClickFunnels Ease of Use
ClickFunnels is overall, very easy to use, and it’s one of the things it’s known for.
Everything inside of ClickFunnels is drag and drop and straightforward to set up. The dashboard is also nice-looking and easy to navigate. While there are one or two quirks in places, overall there isn’t really anything to complain about when it comes to usability.
One reason why ClickFunnels is so popular is because even beginners can use it, as you don’t need any prior technical knowledge to get things working the way you want. Plus, the main difference between ClickFunnels and Kartra’s usability is that ClickFunnels is much quicker to setup. However, this may also be because of the difference in features.
ClickFunnels Deliverability Rates
When it comes to ClickFunnels’ Follow-up funnels feature, deliverability rates also seem reasonably decent, and they give you a lot of resources that can help you ensure your emails are hitting the inbox.
Like Kartra, you shouldn’t really have to worry about deliverability too much, as long as you follow the best practices.
Who Is ClickFunnels Good For
ClickFunnels is good for you if any of the following apply:
- You want an easy to use page builder
- You want a quick and easy way to set up funnels
- You use webinars as a core part of your business
- You don’t need to host your own videos
ClickFunnels is great for anyone looking to implement the concept of funnels to its full potential.
These may be service-businesses, e-commerce stores, and especially info-product vendors, and even affiliate marketers.
If you go on YouTube and start clicking on a few ads, it wouldn’t take too long until you land on a page that has been built with ClickFunnels. The platform has become this popular for a reason, so ClickFunnels is definitely good for you if you fall into any of the above categories.
Kartra vs ClickFunnels: Pricing
Now that we have taken a look at what both these platforms have to offer, let’s look at the costs they come at.
Kartra has four main pricing plans:
- Starter: $99 per month
- Silver: $199 per month
- Gold: $299 per month
- Platinum: $499 per month
There is also an enterprise plan available if you contact support. I like Kartra’s pricing because you get access to all features on every plan, apart from the Kartra agency on the starter plan.
The only differences between the plans are the resources that you have available. One of these being how many contacts you can collect. Below, I’ve listed all the plans and what limits they have.
Kartra Starter($99 per month)
- Up to 2500 leads
- 1 custom domain
- 15,000 emails p/m
- 50 GB Bandwidth
- Host 100 pages
- Host 50 videos

- Build 2 membership sites
- Add 1 additional team member
- Connect 1 helpdesk
Kartra Silver ($199 per month)

- Unlimited everything else (Bandwidth, videos, pages, etc.)
Kartra Platinum ($499 per month)
- Up to 50,000 leads
- 10 custom domains
- Unlimited everything else (Bandwith, videos, pages, etc.)
ClickFunnels, on the other hand, has three main pricing plans:
- ClickFunnels Standard plan: $99 per month
- ClickFunnels Platinum: $297 per month
- Two Comma Club X: $2,497 per month
The Two Comma X plan is mainly for enterprise-size businesses. Its main benefits are more sub-users, more payment gateways, and VIP phone support. It also has some additional educational material.
Unlike with Kartra, you don’t get all features on every plan, which is annoying.
Each ClickFunnels account comes with the use of the page builder, the ability to create funnels, host webinars and access at least the basic version of FunnelFlix.
On ClickFunnels Platinum you also get access to the following features:
- Affiliate management
- Follow-up Funnels
- Funnel Hack-A-Thon
- Most FunnelFlix videos
Below are the limits of each of the plans:
ClickFunnels Starter ($97 per month)
- 20 Funnels
- 100 pages
- 1 sub-user
- 3 payment gateways
- 3 domains
ClickFunnels Platinum $297 per month
- Unlimited funnels and pages
- 3 Sub users
- 9 payment gateways
- 9 domains
ClickFunnels Two Comma Club X
- Unlimited funnels and pages
- 10 sub-users
- 27 payment gateways
- 27 domains
Final Thoughts – Kartra vs ClickFunnels – Which Is Best?
As you have seen throughout this article, Kartra and ClickFunnels are two great platforms. I don’t think there’s one overall winner because they offer slightly different features and can cater to different audiences.
Since ClickFunnels’ main offering is the funnel builder, if we’re comparing Kartra against ClickFunnels on purely this level then I would say ClickFunnels wins.
However, it really depends on what you need on your business. For example, if you need to host a lot of video content for a membership site, or if you use video sales letters as a core part of your marketing strategy then I recommend using Kartra over ClickFunnels.
Another important thing to consider is that Kartra’s affiliate management tools are far superior to ClickFunnels. So, if recruiting and managing affiliates is an important part of your business then I would definitely say to choose Kartra over ClickFunnels.
Kartra also performs well in email marketing, affiliate management and has a few additional features like its video hosting, calendar, and helpdesk. Therefore, if your business benefits from these areas, it would make sense to go for Kartra.
However, ClickFunnels has the additional webinar feature that Kartra doesn’t have. Plus, it also has much more educational material to help you succeed, is easier to use, and has a larger community. If you think you need those benefits to succeed, it will make sense to go for ClickFunnels.
