Introducing Kartra
Kartra is a relatively new marketing software product, as it only launched in 2018. However, the company behind Kartra is GenesisDigital, which has been around for a lot longer and was founded in 2013.
In case you haven’t heard of them, GenesisDigital has some solid history in the industry, as they are also behind a few other highly successful software products like WebinarJam and Everwebinar.
Since Kartra launched, it’s become hugely popular among internet marketers, business owners, and entrepreneurs. The reason for this is its incredible list of easy-to-use features that are focused on helping its users generate more sales and leads.
You can use Kartra to build landing pages and funnels, collect emails and build your list, sell products with Kartra Checkout, set up membership sites, host your videos, recruit and manage affiliates, run a support desk, and basically run pretty much every part of your online business.
Here’s a list of Kartra’s core features:
- Kartra Checkouts
- Kartra Leads
- Build Sales Funnels
- Kartra Pages
- Kartra Mail and Forms
- Kartra Funnels and Campaigns
- Kartra Memberships
- Kartra Videos
- Kartra Helpdesks
- Kartra Calendars
- Kartra Affiliates
- Kartra Integrations
- Kartra Agency
If you want to try out Kartra and take it for a test drive, then there is a 30 day Kartra trial available.
Who Is Kartra Best For?
Kartra is best for users that want to build comprehensive marketing campaigns using just one all-in-one platform.
Every feature inside of Kartra acts as if you’d have purchased a dedicated software for it, which is why it’s so effective.
If you need to use multiple pieces of software in your business, then not only will Kartra save you money on multiple third-party subscriptions, it will also save you the headache of integrating them all together.
Kartra Pros & Cons
- You can create almost any type of affiliate program that you like
- Gorgeous templates for your pages, emails, etc
- Detailed Analytics makes it easier to decide correctly
- Powerful automations make it easy to convert leads to customers
- Checkouts with one-click order bumps/upsells/downsells allow you to make the most out of every sale
- Not good for Blogging/SEO
- Pages can load slow
- It can be overwhelming at first due to the huge number of features
Introducing ClickFunnels
ClickFunnels probably doesn’t need any introduction since it’s been around for so long. But, let’s introduce it anyway, just to be sure.
Russell Brunson founded the company in 2014. Since then, it has become the most popular funnel builder software on the market. Additionally, it’s also one of the world’s fastest-growing, non-VC-backed companies, which is very impressive.
The reason ClickFunnels has grown so fast is because of its ease of use and also the features it offers.
Although it doesn’t have as many features as Kartra, ClickFunnels is known to give users some of the best marketing tools in a straightforward and easy-to-understand software.
Here is a list of ClickFunnels features:
- Page Builder and Templates
- Webinar Funnels
- Affiliate management
- Follow-up Funnels and Newsletters
- Membership site builder
- Checkouts with one-click order bumps, upsells and downsells
- Share funnels
- FunnelFlix
- Hack-A-Thon
Who Is ClickFunnels Best For?
ClickFunnels is best for info product vendors and eCommerce stores where a funnel can help increase conversions.
That is quite a broad target market…
But ClickFunnels has over 120,000 customers, so they appeal to a wide range of businesses.
You’re probably thinking right now that both platforms sound great. While that’s true, each platform does have its own pros and cons, which I’ll get into here in a few minutes.
ClickFunnels Pros & Cons
- All in one tool
- Easy To Use
- Good sales funnel flow
- Lots of templates
- Good analytics
- A/B Split Testing
- 14-day free trial

Kartra Features and Benefits
Let’s jump into how Kartra is different from ClickFunnels. Afterward, we’ll do the same and vice versa.
What Kartra Has That ClickFunnels Doesn’t Have
Kartra has quite a lot of features that ClickFunnels doesn’t have.
While one or two of them will be a game-changer for some business owners, a few of them are not that significant, but I’ve still explained them below too just so you know exactly what you’re getting if you decide to buy Kartra.
Kartra Hosting
One advantage Kartra has over ClickFunnels is that it can do more than just build funnels. Kartra also lets you host landing pages, checkout pages, membership content, videos, and even a basic business website inside the platform.
That’s useful because it can reduce the number of separate tools you need to pay for and manage. For some users, that means a simpler setup and fewer tech headaches.
It’s not the same as traditional web hosting like WordPress hosting, but for many coaches, course creators, and service businesses, it can cover a lot of what they need.
If you want a deeper breakdown, here’s a guide on how to host your stuff with Kartra.
Video Hosting
One of the most significant features that ClickFunnels is missing is video hosting. If you need to use video in your business, for example on your sales pages or as part of a private membership site, then this can be a game-changer for you, as I’ll explain.
When using ClickFunnels, you will need to also sign up for a third-party video host like Wistia or Vimeo to host videos for your pages and membership sites. You can then embed those videos into your ClickFunnels pages.
One of these third-party video hosting platforms can easily cost you an additional $99+ per month, depending on the amount of bandwidth you use.
Kartra’s video hosting tool, on the other hand, comes included with your Kartra monthly subscription, which is pretty sweet. It is included in all of the Kartra pricing plans (see below).
Kartra’s video hosting is also quite advanced as it lets you add CTAs, and headlines to your videos to help you improve your conversions.
I also particularly like that you could tag contacts based on their behavior and interactions with your videos, for example, how much of a sales video they have watched. You can then set up automated email sequences with Kartra Mail based on the amount of content they have or have not watched.
That’s a pretty powerful feature!

Different “Share Funnels” and Pre-Built Campaigns
As you probably know, both ClickFunnels and Kartra let you share funnels with other users. However, Kartra goes one step further and enables you to share all your other assets like your email marketing campaigns, helpdesks, videos, etc. too, which is pretty useful.
Kartra also has pre-built campaigns instead of funnel templates. Some of which are built by marketing legends like Frank Kern and come with pre-built copy written too.
Better Affiliate Management
Affiliate management is one area where Kartra really shines. ClickFunnels has an affiliate marketing feature too, but from all the talk in the online marketing community, it’s not as robust as Kartra’s.
Kartra lets you create many types of affiliate programs that ClickFunnels doesn’t. For example, you can set up your programs to be pay per sale or pay per lead.
You can also set payment milestones, create multiple access levels, run competitions, and offer bonus incentives.
In my opinion, Kartra tracking and analytics are also superior too.

Better Email Marketing
When it comes to email marketing, both ClickFunnels and Kartra have some great tools built-in.
However, Kartra again has more tools to help you build more effective campaigns. The automation sequences have more triggers, and you can split-test your emails, while with ClickFunnels, you can’t.
Kartra also has a better lead scoring system that will give you more information on how engaged a lead is, their value, etc.
Unfortunately, ClickFunnels’ autoresponder (known as Follow-up Funnels) is only available on their higher-priced Platinum plan. However, with Kartra you can use all features including Kartra Mail on any plan.

Visual Analytics
Throughout Kartra’s features, it has very comprehensive analytics. Whether it’s for email marketing, membership sites, or affiliate management, Kartra gives you a ton of valuable insights that you can use to create better campaigns.
For example, in your membership site analytics, you can see metrics related to your student’s retention. Or, you can also see the ROI of an automation sequence in the email marketing section.
ClickFunnels has some decent analytics too, but they’re not quite as visual and advanced as Kartra’s.
Behavior-Adaptive Marketing
Another feature that you won’t find inside of ClickFunnels is the behavior-adaptive-marketing feature.
From the moment a visitor first reaches your website or funnel, Kartra will start tracking what they’re interested in.
This feature can then use that information to adapt your pages to their behavior automatically.
As you can imagine, this can help to significantly increase your conversions, especially if you have lots of visitors and you’re targeting quite a broad audience, as it helps you match the message to the visitor’s needs.
Helpdesks
Kartra also lets you connect helpdesks to your pages and membership sites, while ClickFunnels doesn’t.
This isn’t a deal-breaker, in my opinion, because you’re just providing email/ticketing support, so it’s not too different from leaving an email link in there. But it’s still a little better and a feature that ClickFunnels doesn’t have.
Calendars
Finally, Kartra also has a built-in calendar tool. This is Kartra’s version of Calendly, so it lets you schedule appointments with your customers.
Again, if you want to go for ClickFunnels, this isn’t the end of the world; Calendly costs like $8 to $12 per month, so it’s not gonna cost you the earth to pay for that separately.
The advantage of using Kartras, on the other hand, is that you can access everything, including your calendar, all from one, single dashboard, which is pretty nice.
What Kartra Is Particularly Good At
Kartra is particularly good at giving you a set of features that combine incredibly well and help you build a powerful marketing system for your business.
This is also where it slightly outperforms ClickFunnels, as it goes the extra mile with affiliate management and email marketing tools.
It’s also great at connecting all the features to help you manage your campaigns more effectively. For example, you can use your contact being an affiliate or watching a certain period of a video as a trigger for your email automation sequences.
Kartra Ease of Use
In general, Kartra is relatively easy to use. All the features are drag and drop, so it’s fairly easy to build your campaigns. However, while I was using Kartra, I found that the campaign setup just has so many steps, which harms the usability.
I think that they could have combined a lot of them, or just create another workaround for it. Sometimes it can make it a lot harder to keep an overview of what you need to do to get your campaign up and running.
Kartra’s page builder can also occasionally lag, which is slightly annoying.
Apart from these two things, Kartra is fairly easy to use, and I didn’t run into any issues.
Kartra Deliverability Rates
Kartra has strict measures in place to ensure that its customers’ emails are delivered. For example, if you import a list of leads, Kartra’s team will first verify that they are yours and active.
Or, when Kartra first launched, users could send a lot fewer emails so that they could ensure the emails were being delivered. Luckily, you can now send unlimited emails on most of Kartra’s plans, but we’ll look at that later on in the pricing section.
You can also set up private IPs, which can also help your deliverability.
I did browse the internet to find more information on Kartra’s deliverability, but unfortunately, there wasn’t any information.
But there is also nobody complaining about it, which is a good sign.
Who Is Kartra Good For
Kartra is excellent for the following businesses:
- Info product sellers
- Service-based businesses
- eCommerce Stores
- Affiliate marketers
The reason I say the platform is good for affiliate marketers is that it is entirely affiliate-friendly.
You can add affiliate links to your emails without the need to worry about Kartra not liking it. Additionally, many of the tools are suited well for affiliates.
If you still need more detailed info on this platform, then you can check out my in-depth Kartra review here.
ClickFunnels Features and Benefits
Now that we have taken a complete look at Kartra, it’s time to do the same for ClickFunnels.
What ClickFunnels Has That Kartra Doesn’t Have
While ClickFunnels doesn’t have as many features as Kartra has, it does have a couple of thighs that Kartra is missing, so you will soon see. If these things are important to you then you may want to choose ClickFunnels over Kartra.
Webinars
One of those things missing from Kartra that ClickFunnels has is the webinar funnels feature. I think the reason why Kartra doesn’t offer this as part of their core offering is that the company behind Kartra, Genesis Digital, has already created two separate webinar products, WebinarJam and EverWebinar.
When it comes to ClickFunnels and webinars, however, keep in mind these are just live webinars, and you still will need an integration to host pre-recorded webinars on ClickFunnels.
However, this is still quite a significant feature that Kartra doesn’t have, as it’s a great way to sell your product.
When using this feature on ClickFunnels, one of the easiest webinar platforms to integrate it with is Zoom.
