Our Overall Thoughts on Unbounce vs ClickFunnels
Both Unbounce and ClickFunnels are great platforms aimed at slightly different audiences. However, there can be some overlap.

On the other hand, if you need a tool to build detailed and complex sales funnels, then you should choose ClickFunnels.

What Is Unbounce?
Unbounce is a high-converting landing page builder that has been around since 2009. Since then, it’s established itself as one of the best and most reliable landing page builders on the market.
It’s known for having an excellent landing page builder and some great conversion tools. Unbounce has proved itself to be reliable even for enormous amounts of traffic (assuming you’re on the right pricing plan).
This is also why Unbounce is used by some huge, international companies that you’ll likely recognize, such as Helix, Zola, Later, or Campaign Monitor.
Some of Unbounce’s top competitors include InstaPage, LeadPages, and ClickFunnels.
Unbounce Pros & Cons
Of course, no landing page software tool out there is perfect. They all have some things they’re great at, and a few areas where they can improve.
Here’s a snapshot of the advantages and disadvantages of using Unbounce for your landing pages.
- Fast-loading pages
- Flexible landing page builder
- Easy to use
- Can handle a lot of traffic, if you're on the right plan
- Lots of outstanding conversion tools
- Decent support
- Good integrations
- Beautiful templates
- A/B testing
- It's only a landing page builder (no sales funnels)
- It's slightly costly for what it is
- Lacking quantity of features
- Has annoying usage limits on their plans
What Is ClickFunnels?
ClickFunnels probably doesn’t need an introduction for most people reading this. However, for those of you who are not familiar, they are the most popular sales funnel software tool on the market and have an insanely large community behind them.
If you research the platform, you’ll quickly see that people love this thing like they do newborn puppies (yes, that much, it’s kinda got a cult following).
Despite this, it does have some drawbacks, which I’ll cover in more detail later.
Besides its strong community, it’s known for being one of the first all-in-one marketing software tools with a complete sales funnel builder. ClickFunnels are also highly celebrated by their users for having easy-to-use, high converting page templates.
ClickFunnels combines landing pages, sales funnels, membership sites, affiliate management, an email autoresponder, and webinars into one single tool.
ClickFunnels Pros & Cons
Here’s a look at all the benefits and drawbacks of using the ClickFunnels online marketing software.

Unbounce Features
Now that we have taken a look at some basic info about both companies, let’s start looking at Unbounce’s features in more detail.
Unbounce Core Offering: Landing Page Builder
The main reason why you’d want to purchase Unbounce is for its conversion-focused landing page builder.
Most users love it because it’s user-friendly, even for beginners. Unbounce’s landing pages are also robust enough to be used by large enterprise businesses.
The page builder comes with a beautiful selection of templates (which we’ll discuss in more detail in a moment) and is also very user-friendly.
What I loved when using Unbounce is that you can move elements around freely on the page. With most other software tools used to create landing pages, including ClickFunnels, you have to drag the elements using a drag-and-drop editor.
Although this is certainly a quick and simple way to build your landing pages, drag-and-drop editors can also be kinda clunky.
However, with Unbounce, this isn’t the case, and I found it very pleasant to work with. Unbounce certainly gives you more flexibility and freedom when creating your landing pages. I was just really impressed by how smooth the landing page builder feels.
That being said, I couldn’t find anything that truly blew me away, and in terms of what you can do with Unbounce – it seems pretty standard.
What makes it so excellent for businesses though, is how quickly and easily you can create your landing pages, and how fast the pages load – even if they’re getting high amounts of traffic.
This is a very important point here.
Tests have shown that a simple increase in page speed of 0.85 secs can increase your conversion rate by as much as 7%. So, that might mean that an Unbounce landing page could potentially convert better than a ClickFunnels page.
Unbounce also makes it easy for you to set up A/B testing to help you find which landing page converts better for your audience.
Unbounce Templates
Unbounce has a fantastic selection of high-converting landing page templates. They look clean and professional and you get over 100+ landing page designs that you can choose from.
While both Unbounce and ClickFunnels have a good selection of landing page templates, Unbounce has more of a corporate look and feel, which some may prefer. But I’ll talk you through that in more detail in a few moments.
Once you have selected a landing page template, you can hit ‘edit’ to open up the page builder and change it as much as you want. I find that both the page editor and the page templates work very well together, so you shouldn’t run into any usability issues.
The only thing I would say about Unbounce’s templates is that they are tailored toward landing pages. So you’re not going to find it as easy to build your entire sales funnel with Unbounce as you might with ClickFunnels.
So, if building sales funnels is high on your priority list then you would do better to go with ClickFunnels. However, if you only need to build landing pages then Unbounce should suit you just fine.
Below is a selection of a few sample templates available in Unbounce.
Pop-Ups and Sticky Bars
Just like most other landing page builders, Unbounce has conversion tools, like pop-ups and sticky bars, that you can add to your pages.
You can easily create sticky bars and pop-ups and then integrate them with your email autoresponder to follow up with users that have opted into your mailing list.
This is pretty standard for most landing page builders, but it looks like Unbounce has slightly more options for where you can place these features on your sales pages.
Smart Traffic
Here’s something that does make Unbounce unique; Unbounce’s Smart traffic feature.
What this feature allows you to do is automatically tailor your landing pages to the interests of your users. The way Unbounce knows what your users are interested in is based on their past behavior.
For example, if the landing page visitor scrolls past something and clicks on another item, Unbounce will remember that action.
When they return to that page, it will automatically tailor your landing page to what they seem to be most interested in.
This will help to increase your conversions because it will tailor your landing pages toward what your users really want. However, it will take a few initial visits to get that data from each visitor.
Still, this is a really impressive feature that isn’t available with ClickFunnels, even through integrations.
Dynamic Text Replacement
Unbounce also has a dynamic text replacement feature. This allows you to personalize your landing pages specifically for your visitors.
This feature helps your customers to know that they have reached the right place by giving you the option to dynamically replace text with specific words based on the user.
You can also use this feature to automatically update the text on your landing pages to match specific keywords in PPC campaigns, social media messages, blog posts, and so on.
The more you can tailor your message to fit your audience, the more chance you will have at making a sale.
What Unbounce Has That ClickFunnels Does Not Have
Let’s take a look at what Unbounce has that ClickFunnels doesn’t have.
Faster Pages
One of the most significant benefits of choosing Unbounce over ClickFunnels is that your landing pages will load faster. This might not seem important, but as I mentioned earlier, studies have shown that just 1 second in loading speed difference can harm conversions by around 7%.
Now, if you’re running an enterprise business with hundreds or thousands of conversions per day then this is a pretty serious issue.
Having your pages load faster will definitely help you to turn your visitors into leads.
Smart Traffic
This is pretty much the only feature that wowed me inside of Unbounce. And ClickFunnels doesn’t have it. Is this a deal-breaker if you were previously leaning towards ClickFunnels?
Probably not, but it’s a helpful feature all the same.
I think that the smart traffic feature is more significant for bigger businesses that are dealing with huge volumes of traffic. You can make up for it through manual split-testing combined with heatmaps, although probably not as effective, and will take more effort on your part.
And it’s also one of those things that you may not even use if you have it. But if you are looking to use it, this could be a big reason to choose Unbounce.
More Professional Templates
This one is slightly subjective, but I found Unbounce’s landing page templates to be more professional-looking than ClickFunnels’. If that’s what you’re looking for, it may be worth going for Unbounce.
However, page design doesn’t necessarily mean that those landing pages will necessarily convert higher.
ClickFunnels Features
Unbounce is an outstanding landing page builder with some great conversion tools. Now, continuing on with my ClickFunnels vs Unbounce comparison, let’s take a look at the leading sales funnel software tool, and how it compares.
ClickFunnels Core Offering: The Funnel Builder
ClickFunnels’ core offering is the sales funnel builder.
It’s pretty similar to what Unbounce offers, but the main difference is that ClickFunnels has everything you need to build entire sales funnels – not just a landing page, although it can do that too.
ClickFunnels is slightly more clunky to use than Unbounce’s page builder, mainly due to its drag and drop editor. That being said though, their page builder is still highly user-friendly. The drag and drop editor itself is pretty simple, which makes ClickFunnels very easy to use.
You can grab a template from the sales funnel template library in your dashboard, or from the ClickFunnels marketplace, add it in seconds, and start editing.
ClickFunnels also makes it super-easy for you to run A/B testing. Simply duplicate your funnel inside the page builder and send an equal amount of traffic to both sales pages over time. Doing this will help you see which page is converting better for you.
Although both software tools offer A/B testing, I did find it easier to set up with ClickFunnels.
ClickFunnels Funnel Templates
ClickFunnels has a lot more templates than Unbounce for the individual funnel steps. For example, if you want to create an up-sell page, a checkout page, a webinar opt-in, or add additional sales pages, there are specific templates for all of them.
With Unbounce, you might find the odd webinar opt-in landing page template, but ClickFunnels has an entire selection for every type of step or page layout that you can think of.
However, I find that Unbounce has more professional-looking templates compared to ClickFunnels’. But whether that is a point for Unbounce over ClickFunnels depends a lot on your personal preferences and what you need to use it for.
That being said, ClickFunnels are known for their high converting templates, so this is also something to consider.
In addition to the marketing funnels and templates that ClickFunnels comes with, there is also a funnel template marketplace. Here you can find both free and paid templates, or you can even hire someone to build custom landing pages and funnels for you.
So, if you need something very specific that the standard template library doesn’t have, then the ClickFunnels marketplace is where you need to go.
In the marketplace, you can even find someone to build an entire custom sales funnel for you if that’s what you need.
Membership Site Builder
The next thing that ClickFunnels has but Unbounce does not offer is a membership site builder. You can use this to build both free and paid members areas.
For paid membership areas you can set up monthly billing to automatically re-bill your members as you need, for example, on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.
The beauty of ClickFunnels membership sites is that you can even build them as part of a sales funnel too. If this is what you’re looking to do then you will find membership funnel templates ready for you to use in the template library inside your account.
Webinars Funnels
ClickFunnels allows you to host live webinars through its platform. Unbounce doesn’t have this. However, you’ll also need a 3rd party integration like Zoom in order to use this feature.
Keep in mind, though, that these are live webinars only and not pre-recorded ones.
Follow Up Funnels & Broadcast Emails (Email Marketing)
Next, we have ClickFunnels’ Follow-up Funnels feature, which is their answer to an email autoresponder. Using Follow-up Funnels you can create automation sequences, and send broadcast (newsletters) emails to your list.
Using the Follow-up Funnels feature can save you money on a 3rd party autoresponder like GetResponse or SendLane. While the automation sequences and segmentation are pretty decent, it’s not on the same level as some of the top autoresponders out there.
Still, it should be more than enough for most businesses regarding behavioral automation and list segmentation. If you want to use this feature then you will need to upgrade to the ClickFunnels Platinum plan.
Affiliate Management (a.k.a BackPack)
ClickFunnels also allows you to create an affiliate program for your products and manage your affiliates via the Backpack dashboard. This is great because it’s a low-risk way of marketing your online business.
But there are some places where ClickFunnels’ affiliate management could improve:
- The reporting isn’t the best for both the affiliate and the vendor. It doesn’t give you lots of information besides who signed up and how many sales the affiliate generated
- It would be nice to have some type of affiliate marketplace like Kartra has. I feel like this would make it easier for the average ClickFunnels user to find affiliates. Then again, the community and Facebook group kind of makeup for it as it’s large and very active
Similar to Follow-up Funnels, if you want to use the BackPack feature then you’ll need to be on the Platinum plan.
Community & Educational Material
Finally, this isn’t necessarily a software feature, but it’s one of the most significant benefits of choosing ClickFunnels over Unbounce.
Firstly, you’ll be a part of the community and network with other members through their massive Facebook group. If you ever have any questions about the software or even need ideas, then there are lots of successful and experienced ClickFunnels users who will be happy to help you out.
In addition to this, ClickFunnels comes with a lot of educational material that you can find inside the FunnelFlix area.
FunnelFlix
This, as the name might suggest, is a library of lessons and videos teaching you internet marketing and funnel building.
Funnel Hack-A-Thons
The Funnel hackathon is a live group coaching session that you can access in ClickFunnels’ Platinum plan. This takes place every Friday and you can join live to get help with any aspect of your sales funnel.
What ClickFunnels Has That Unbounce Does Not Have
As you have seen above, ClickFunnels comes with quite a few additional features that Unbounce doesn’t have. Then again, that’s to be expected given that it’s more of an all-in-one marketing tool, rather than only a landing page.
Key Things ClickFunnels Has That Unbounce Doesn’t Have
Besides the drag and drop sales funnel builder, it’s pretty clear-cut what ClickFunnels has over Unbounce. However, to recap, here are the key extra’s that you will get with ClickFunnels.
Membership Site Builder
With Unbounce, you’ll have to use a 3rd party integration and host your courses on something like Kajabi or Thinkific.
This can get quite costly, ranging from $50 to $300+ per month, depending on what you need. So, yeah, it’s fair to say that you will likely save a lot of money using ClickFunnels if you need a membership site builder.
Webinar Funnels
Again, the webinar sales funnels are another significant feature that ClickFunnels has, which Unbounce doesn’t. That being said, you have to keep in mind that it’s only live webinars, not pre-recorded ones.
Follow Up-Funnels
The email autoresponder features that ClickFunnels has are quite significant too. Why?
Because email marketing automation is something that you’re going to need no matter which platform you choose. So, with Unbounce, you’ll have an additional cost here.
Community & Educational Material
This is one of those things that you usually don’t look for in a software product. However, it’s definitely nice to have, as it will ultimately help you become a better marketer, and ultimately make more sales.
Unbounce has its blog and a few other resources, but it’s not quite the same as all the courses and group coaching you’ll get with ClickFunnels.

Unbounce vs ClickFunnels – Pricing
Now let’s take a look at the cost of both ClickFunnels and Unbounce.
Unbounce Cost
Below I have listed all the Unbounce pricing plans and explained them, so you know what to expect.
One thing I really don’t like about them is the usage limits, especially the conversions. These are quite low across all plans, in my opinion, and one of the biggest drawbacks of Unbounce. But let’s take a look.
Check here for Unbounce coupon code and discounts.
Launch $90 P/M
Monthly usage limits:
- Up to 500 conversions
- Up to 20,000 visitors
- 1 connected domain
Conversions refer to any conversion, including clicking your call to action or signing up with their email address.
Optimize $135 P/M
- Up to 1,000 conversions
- Up to 30,000 visitors
- 3 connected domain
Accelerate $225 P/M
- Up to 2,000 conversions
- Up to 40,000 visitors
- 7 connected domain
Scale $300 P/M
- Up to 3,000 conversions
- Up to 50,000 visitors
- 15connected domain
If you need higher usage limits for your landing pages, you can book a meeting with their team to discuss custom plans.
ClickFunnels Cost
Now let’s look at how much ClickFunnels costs.
I like ClickFunnels’ pricing because it is more affordable than purchasing all the tools separately. That being said, it is quite a big jump from the $97 per month to the $297 per month plan without an option in between.
ClickFunnels Starter ($97 per month)
Resources:
- 20 sales funnels
- 100 pages
- 1 sub-user
- 3 payment gateways
- 3 domains
In this plan, you won’t get the following features:
- Affiliate management
- Follow-up Funnels
- Funnel Hack-A-Thon
- Some FunnelFlix Videos
- Priority Supports
ClickFunnels Platinum ($297 per month)
Resources:
- Unlimited sales funnels and pages
- 3 sub-accounts
- 9 payment gateways
- 9 domains
Features included: All
ClickFunnels Two Comma Club X ($2,497)
- Unlimited sales funnels and pages
- 10 sub-accounts
- 27 payment gateways
- 27 domains
- Features: All + Hours of additional FunnelFlix training
Final Thoughts: Unbounce vs ClickFunnels Review – Which Is Best?
I hope you have enjoyed my Unbounce vs ClickFunnels review. As you have seen throughout, ClickFunnels has a few more features, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the best option for you.
The Unbounce landing page software performs better in terms of page load speed, and also has additional tools to help you improve your conversion rates, such as the smart traffic feature. Therefore, it depends on what you need. However, it’s not really designed as a sales funnel builder, so it will be slightly harder to create sales funnels using Unbounce.
But overall, I think that ClickFunnels is more suited for most smaller online businesses because it offers more features. Bear in mind though, this comes with a higher cost compared to Unbounce.
